For over 100 years Girl Scout Cookies have been a seasonal treat that millions look forward to. This year you may not see your local troop with a booth set-up due to the surreal conditions of the times, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have goals to meet. Show your support and order them online or through an officemate, grab the right beer, and enjoy a delicious time!
There are some regional cookie differences and availability can change from city to city. For the most part they involve similar flavors with slightly different shapes or coatings.
S’mores
I’m used to the S’mores cookies in Los Angeles that are shaped like Keebler sandwich cookies. This year I had to venture out of county and was introduced to a chocolate covered version that’s delicious and less sweet.
I found the light smoke and roast of a Porter worked wonders in transporting me to the joys of a night around a camp fire..
What Beers Pair With S’mores?
- Founder’s Porter (US)
- Anchor Brewing’s Porter (US)
Peanut Butter Patties®
The beers that pair with these rich and nutty classics will work with Tagalongs too.
We all know that milk is the best pairing for these patties but there’s fun to be had with fruity or chocolatey beers.
They compliment the patties while providing carbonation to get the peanut butter off of the roof of your mouth.
Belgian Strong Ales (Quads) have a raisin quality that offer dark, sweet fruit for the patties.
If you’re a fan of Elvis and his peanut butter- banana fixation, try a banana flavored beer.
Raspberry or Strawberry Ales can create the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich effect!

Thin Mints
Perhaps the most popular of the Girl Scout Cookie line is this minty classic.
I just recently learned the awesome power of keeping these chocolate wafer goodies in the freezer. Late to the game, I know..
To drive home the Junior Mint or York Peppermint Patty sensation, go with a malty, caramelly Doppelbock.
You can also try sweet strawberry ale to compliment the refreshing mint.

- Weihenstephaner Korbinian Doppelbock (Germany)
- Lindeman’s Strawberry Fruit Lambic (Belgium)
Samoas/ Caramel DeLites
Coconut and Caramel compete for attention in this sweet treat.
I’m going to cheat and suggest a cider here. A sucker for a Pina Colada, I think the coconut calls for pineapple.
Reach for a Strawberry or Scotch ale to both compliment and match sweetness.
For a bitter-sweet combo, go with a crisp pale ale.

Lemonades® (Or Lemon-Ups)
I’m sure you are noticing a pattern with Lindeman’s Strawberry Lambic and Girl Scout Cookies.
Of the many beers tasted, I was most surprised at the versatility of this sweet Belgian ale across the board.
This was my favorite pairing of them all.
I’m not a lemon cookie guy normally but the Strawberry-Lemonade combo blew my mind.
This combo was made even better by eating Both a Thin Mint AND Lemonade together to make Strawberry-Mint-Lemonade! Instant summertime magic.
Lindeman’s Framboise (Raspberry) will work here too.
I know that there are cookies that weren’t covered. I was searching for the Toffee Tastic’s but had no luck in my area this year. There’s always next season.
Enjoy these combinations and be sure to share any discoveries you make in the comment section below.
Remember “be prepared” with cookies and support your local troop anyway you can!
Enjoy the adventure. Cheers!
